Just Another Annual Trip to the ER
It wouldn't be Christmas if the Seppanen's didn't have their annual trip to the Emergency Room. I went to St. Anthony's Hospital in Frisco, CO due to severe abdomen pain. After several tests, the doctor determined that my only option was emergency surgery to figure out the source of the pain. Dr. Gelman thought I was either having an apendicitis or that one of my ovaries had twisted and would potentially have to be removed. I had to put under general anestesia which means our poor little baby had a hit of some drugs as well. They performed laproscopy surgery and found a benign fibroid tumor the size of a door knob attached to the surface of my uterus. If I had to choose between an apendicitis, a twisted ovary or a fibroid......I'd hands down take the fibroid. Obviously I was concerned about the effects of the drugs on the baby, but the nurse put me at ease when she said, "Look at it this way, the baby will have 20 weeks of detox". Thankfully, baby Seppanen pulled through and we are both doing super! The doctors and nurses were amazing and mom and baby healthily left the hospital on the 28th and flew back to Orlando on the 29th.
